There is nothing more awesome than feeling that you are making progress, even if it’s small. The best way to feel powerful is to build momentum. A couple of small victories can make your momentum grow until you claim a daily victory. But what if we turn it inside out? What if you could claim a daily victory to build momentum? Sounds like an empowerment loop to me.
Today, you are learning how to claim a daily victory with 5 simple tips, apply even one of them and you will build huge momentum without going crazy.
Wake up early
I know there are a few night owls out there who may complain. Relax you can turn this one into go really late to bed. The idea here is to find a small space in your day for completely focused work. It can be just 20 minutes, but if you can truly focus you will indeed make something awesome!
If you wake up early, just get out of bed as quickly as you can and tackle one task you wanted to do. For example I work on Enso Journey daily, and it’s the first thing I do in the morning. Maybe I just change something in the sidebar or code a bit for the back-end, or study to bring you more great tips.
Do this everyday and when you got o bed you will always feel that you improved your life or business even a little bit.
Eat slowly and mindfully
When you stop to grab a bite, you can truly take a minute to clear your mind and allow yourself to be ready for any challenge.
The idea is simple, each time you take a bite from your plate, put the fork or the spoon aside for a minute, or just play with it gently in your hand before the next bite. Take this time to enjoy the taste, truly savor your food and allow your mind to focus on this.
The curious thing that happens is that you can clear a lot of stress out if you eat mindfully, that’s because your mind is truly enjoying and busy with your meal. Stress will just melt away with every bite you take and you fill yourself with energy to claim your daily victory.
Listen to your victory song
We all have a victory song, if you think you don’t just find it in your favorite tunes. Music can truly move our bodies, that’s why we dance or sing along our favorite artists. You can use the same power to move your emotions in the right direction and get things done super fast.
It’s no secret that I’m a bit of a metal head and I love speed metal to get things done. Their upbeat music and warrior like lyrics help me get into motion right away. There is no way I can sit still and do nothing if Soldiers of the Wasteland by Dragonforce is playing.
You may not be into metal music, but victory songs are all around us. Dredd Song by The Cure, or The legendary Rocky song by Bill Conti, Gonna Fly Now. Just pick up your tune and let it fill you with the warrior spirit, once charged your daily victory will come easy.
Take a break and watch a movie
I just mentioned Rocky, one of the best movies about self improvement and personal victories ever made. There is one for every taste. I love movies where the protagonist does something that goes well beyond everyone’s expectations. Cinderella Man is one of my favorites (Do you notice the pattern? I love good movies about boxing).
Any good story that makes you feel that you can break your barriers can help, beside you are not procrastinating if you do it consciously to give yourself some renewed courage.
Once the movie is over, take your weapons, be it brushes, a pen, or your computer and claim your daily victory just as you saw in the movie. Your spirit can’t break if you feel the power of a great warrior behind you.
Read some inspiring quotes
Sometimes you just need a quick reminder that you can do anything. Inspiring words surround us at every moment, and it’s super easy to just google them. But today I want to even save you from that work, let’s thank Joel Runyon for compiling 50 awesome quotes.
Just pick one from his list, take a minute to close your eyes and let that quote really get deep inside you. Then let it’s words fill you with power. Now open your eyes and start tackling the tasks you need to complete. While you have those words in your soul you can claim a victory in no time.
Bonus tip: Kill your to-do list
I truly tried to get into the habit of doing some to-do lists. But for me it just plain doesn’t work, of course I managed to change the idea so that it worked for me. I do a reverse to-do list and I call it victory list.
Each night before I go to bed I make a list,, not of the things I have to do, but the ones I already completed during the day. When I started doing this, I noticed that I did far more than what I thought. I passed from the 3 simple task list to my victory list with 5 to 10 items completed.
Even if they are not amazing tasks, you always have small victories during the day and this list celebrates them! There is no better way to build momentum than knowing that you are having even one victory each day.
I truly hope this quick tips help you build momentum. Remember celebrate each daily victory and you will feel the warrior inside you awake.
