Kym already told you why humor has some serious healing power that you should exploit. Today, I want you to laugh out loud. After all, it’s weekend and you should be able to relax and enjoy your life. To ensure you have a wonderful weekend full of laughter, here are my 5 simple tips to laugh out loud. There is a caveat you need to be able to laugh from yourself too!
Funny movie night!
There are countless movies around us, some are very serious, some are action movies, but some fun should come in. It’s well known I love Kung Fu Panda and similar style movies. Just because I want to laugh out loud and have some real fun.
Take out a minute today to get ready, open your Netflix account or pop in a funny DVD, not every minute should be work, and you deserve a great laugh. Even better if you pick one that you have never seen. Give yourself the opportunity to let go of your to-do list and have a great time!
Let’s remember the funny times
One thing that happens often with my friends is that we instantly recall the funny times. All crazy things we did in college are always a good excuse to laugh out loud. Pick up the phone, call some friends and enjoy a great laugh. And be prepared, because some of the fun may have been your irrational actions back then.
You kill 2 stones with one bird on this one, since you will also strengthen a relationship with your friends. Relax, have a drink or two (or just some good tea) and allow yourself to remember the time you played a zombie in a short movie for that school project.
Comedy night out!
It’s not unusual for stand up comedy nights in every town. Around here, every weekend you can find it at several theaters and pubs. Some even allow you to participate if you wish. Give it a try, enjoy the ambiance and allow yourself to laugh out loud.
Stand up comedy is an art in itself, so if you are up to it, you can organize your own stand up comedy night, just to call in some friends and take turns telling jokes. Some serious laughter can truly blast your house if you get really into it. Try it, I promise you won’t regret it.
Online comics to the rescue
To be honest I spend good half an hour reading comics while writing this tiny bit of the post. Why? Because they are the bane of my productivity. Online comics are a great source of entertainment, and if you find the right one for you then you will have a blast.
I love the funny cat humor of Cat Vs. Human, the dark and twisted Unspeakable Vault of Doom, or the fun and very RPG themed Looking for Group. They can offer a great laugh and as they are updated regularly it’s a good way to get a dose of laughter to your everyday. Of course remember that you should reserve this for your resting time.
If you are like me, probably you love videogames and there are a lot of funny games out there that can help you laugh, but for the best laugh ever, a good board game can really do the trick. You can really get he laughter going. Even a simple game of pictionary can really get you started.
For those that are truly in need of some serious laughter. Why don’t you try a little bit of role playing games? You don’t need to play one of the great Dungeons and Dragons campaigns to have a laugh (but it certainly helps, I can tell you a million stories of my games). Just let yourself fool around for a while with some friends and try to characterize as one famous person with anything at hand. You will laugh hard, promise.
Bonus tip: Laugh out loud on youtube
We constantly talk about getting things done, and how you can be more productive. That’s true, but if you can’t enjoy a good laughter, then there is no real point to all the effort. You need to rest from time to time, even I have learned that lesson (and I’m a bit work-a-holic).
Just pop youtube in your browser, take a deep breath and put funny cat videos on the search box. There you go countless of videos just for you to laugh out loud. Remember my earlier comment about being a zombie in a school film? If you are truly daring and want to laugh at me (which it’s ok for the weekend), just watch this video.
Remember, you have to enjoy your life and a good laugh can give you the energy to tackle the most daunting tasks. never let, it’s also a great way to ensure you have a powerful healing system, so let stress go away for this weekend and laugh out loud.
