During the darkest times in my life I just forgot that the divine existed. I was in a horrible place were there was nobody I could ask for help. This is something I want you to avoid at all costs. You need a spiritual practice to connect to the divine and truly start using it’s power.

Just as the sun opens up in this picture, you spiritual practice can open the clouds of doubt in your mind. Photo by by Graham Campbell.
A spiritual practice doesn’t mean religion
Let’s get this one out of our way as fast as we can. This is my particular opinion, so don’t worry if you don’t agree with me, but we need to get this step out of the way because it’s a core problem where a lot of people get stuck (I remember being stuck on this one for a long time).
Religions are good, IF they get out the best within you. Otherwise religion is useless.
Religions are meant to be a set of rules and beliefs that can help you become a better you. Still they can be limiting and for some of us, they are not really our bread and butter. But they are not the only way to reach a healthy spiritual practice. I’m not against religions, I believe they are frameworks that work for a lot of people, if you have a strong spiritual practice thanks to religion, please continue practicing it!
A spiritual practice is just a way to connect with something higher than us. You can call it as you wish; off the top of my head I remember these names: God, the light, spiritual nature, supraconscience, Buddha nature, etc.
The importance of connecting with the divine
During your life, you need to face a lot of things that you may not be ready for. Fear can cloud your life easily, uncertainty is all around you. The secret to survive these and many more is simple, a healthy spiritual practice. But beating fear and anxiety is not the only things you get from this:
- You build a strong foundation: You can create an awesome life with a lot of effort, but if one powerful event destroy all it’s hard to rebuild. Instead if you have a strong spiritual foundation, you can cope with all the curve balls that life can throw at you.
- You become resistant to stress: Busy work, daily life and all the activities in your to-do list bring different levels of stress and sooner or later that bomb is going to blow. By allowing the divine to enter your life stress melts away with your daily practice.
- You become better at what you do: Your life is starts filling with the power and inspiration. The two ingredients to build awesome things. Connecting to a higher purpose allows you to fill your daily activities with a sense of power and freedom.
- You destroy procrastination: Procrastination is always the enemy of all the great things you came here to do. You can learn to overcome it, tapping into a higher realm. The strong sense of purpose will get you out of bed and doing what you love without too much effort.
- You become aware of your power: Little secret here, you can do far more than what you think you can do. It’s hard to believe you can if there is nobody around to tell you. What if the whole universe could tell you that every single second? Instant power boost for you.
I could go on and on with all the benefits, but I think you catch my drift. The idea of having a spiritual practice is to have a powerful anchor to a higher purpose. This will allow you to go well beyond what you thought it was possible.
Simple ways to start your practice right now
Starting your practice can be a little bit difficult if you don’t know what you want to do. It’s also important to be aware of the things you like to do and how this activities will fit into your day. i will use me as a guinea pig as usual, so here is my own example.
As weird as it may sound i started my spiritual practice while exercising. I started to notice that when I was doing some fabulous repetitions, running around or throwing some punches, I felt a lot better, my mind was clear and I could start working without problems. So I began to cultivate the practice of regular exercise.
Soon I found myself interested in meditation and other forms of mindfulness. I started cultivating the practice and now I’m a regular practitioner. To add a bit of fun, i try to practice different ways from time to time, and see if the experience of others can help me.
Your process doesn’t have to evolve that way. It must feel right for you. If you are interested in personal development practice, neuro-linguistic programing, meditation, yoga, a religion, or just sitting and listening to your thoughts go for it. Just remember to be constant and experiment each time you can, and if you have doubts, remember these tips:
- Research: Find a practice that sounds interesting to you. And get right into it. If you can have a class about it even better. If not a few books or a quick search in google can help you out. Remember it must sound interesting.
- Make a commitment: Practice at least once a day or as regular as you can. The idea is to for the habit, if you need to, find a partner to help you during this time
- Don’t look for goals: Practice for the sake of practicing, not because you are hoping for he benefits to pop up after your first minutes. It’s like a snowball it get’s bigger and bigger while coming down from the mountain. But it’s not looking to be big.
The divine is within you
Here is a little secret, but don’t let this interfere with your practice. The divine is already within you. you are awesome and can reach any goal. A healthy spiritual practice can help you open your heart, and that is where the divine lives. Opening your heart may seem scary at first, but those who have done it will tell you that they wouldn’t go back no matter what.
A powerful Enso Warrior has his heart wide open for each opportunity that the world can send him. I promise you won’t regret it. the time you invest right now connecting to the upper realms will pay itself a million times over. Don’t forget to share this post with your friends.
Now as a final recommendation, to start your spiritual practice, perhaps you want to just sit and listen to your thoughts right now. Enjoy the ride!
Simply beautiful, Alejandro.
